The Blenders represent the core of the Gold Coast Barbershop Harmony Club (GCBHC). The other sections of the club are: BYC (Blenders Youth Chorus), The Blenders Citizenship Chorus, Blenders & Friends (a mini choir). TheSupport Team and numerous auspice groups and ensemblesare to be found under “Groups”.
Formed in 1988 and originally called ‘Banana Blenders’, the club is a non-profit organisation providing entertainment for the pleasure of the community.
They are funded mainly from member subscriptions. However they are also available for hire. This funding is all directed back to the chorus so that they can continue to offer the community the delight of this unique style of entertainment.
Their repertoire includes a wide range of musical genres from Johnny O’Keefe to Gershwin, from classical to rock and roll, including ballads, love songs, old songs, new songs and Australiana. All are presented in four-part a cappella (unaccompanied) male vocal harmony in Barbershop or SATB-related stile.
The Club provides entertainment for corporate functions, large and small events, product launches, official openings, sporting event, conferences, seminars, weddings, Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, Christmas Caroling and many other special occasions.
